ABOUT US
Meet your counselor
Patricia Avalos, MS, LMHC MH21349
I believe that each of us has a story to tell…
… a story that’s part of who we are. I know I do!
Personally, growing up was not easy. I struggled with knowing who I was, and my mom struggled with her own mental and emotional battles. I also grew up not knowing my biological father and felt very alone. Even though I faced these challenges as an adolescent, I discovered that it could all be turned around for good. I realized that these circumstances did not define me, and I was capable of rewriting my story. Now, I am a mother of three girls and have a beautiful, blended family. I know the challenges families can face when living in a blended family, but I also know the joys of it, too.
Many of us have questioned things like…
What is this life all about?
Where do I go from here?
How can I pick up the pieces?
Who am I?
How come this happened to me?
How come I was not good enough?
These questions can create messages in your mind which can be overwhelming. As a result, anxiety, and depression creep in and leave you feeling numb and hopeless. Questions about your very existence start to flood your mind. Maybe that’s you right now. I’ve asked some of those questions, too. Wherever you are, I know that there is hope and answers to your questions.
Together, we can discover what it is you’re seeking…
I strongly believe that all of us have the answers that we are searching for buried deep within us, and with some assistance we can unlock these answers together. I use a relational approach to counseling which is a non-judgmental therapeutic approach that takes into consideration social factors, such as race, culture, religion, class, and gender, and evaluates how these factors influence your life and the struggles or issues you are facing while conveying empathy. This approach is a non-directive approach to therapy which helps you to feel encouraged, supported, and heard.
Together, we can unlock those answers and the strength already inside you!
I can’t wait to work with you…
I’ve worked as an at-risk youth mentor and enjoyed every bit of it. In working with them, I discovered that there was something more that I could offer today’s generation… hope! We all come into this world as part of a family, so it is essential that we do not just target one piece of the puzzle but rather multiple areas. In family or couples counseling, I work with the family or couple to communicate in an effective way and to come to a common ground.
To see a family healed and restored brings me great joy!
I know the struggles I have faced as an individual but also remember those who have made a positive impact on my life and helped me along the way. So, I want to come along side individuals of all ages to help you feel supported while guiding you through the therapeutic process. I am passionate about working with children, adolescents, individuals, families, and couples and believe in the power of relationships.
